WHAT EASTER MEANS TO ME.
I wanted to write this on Saturday and post it on Sunday morning, but I guess I was holding back cause I wasn’t sure if I knew what I wanted to say. But I’m always grateful for the Holy Spirit for inspiration.
Before I gave my life to Christ, I did not think easter meant a lot to me, i saw it as a public holiday, where I didn’t need to go to school on Friday and on Monday, then when I went to church on Sunday, I’d see everyone worshiping intensively, in jovial moods, thanking Jesus for what He did on the cross. I didn’t get it, I didn’t understand the impact, I guess I could say this was all just mere information to me.
But now, it’s different, this is my first easter where I acknowledge, where it has dawned on me, what Jesus did for me on the cross. Recently, I have been reading the book of Romans, and it speaks about Faith, the Good News, and how we are now justified by Grace.
So Let’s start from the beginning, when Adam fell and we were separated from God. We were lost and sin had power over us. (Gen 3:23-24) Then there were men: Abraham, Moses, and David. Men of great faith, but there were just men with their flaws. Then there were priests also who atoned for the sins of people, but that didn’t work either. At this moment, God was a little fed up. He wanted to end it all because no matter how much He tried, our sins increased and man grew more wicked. Who could then atone for our sins? How will our sins be cleansed without the destruction of man?
In Isaiah 7:14, this was a prophecy that Jesus was going to come and His name would be “Immanuel”(God with us). Reading the word has made me realize that the coming of Jesus to save the world has been hidden in the scriptures since the inception of time(Exo12) Jesus is the Passover lamb that was spoken about in the book of Exodus.
When Jesus came to earth, born of a virgin(because this was the only way that His seed would not be corrupted(Matt 1:18)the people revolted against Him. Though He healed, He raised the dead and set people free. They still chose to see Him as a “blasphemer”. This led to envy, which then led to the crucifixion of Jesus Christ. One thing they failed to realize is that this was the plan all along (Isa 53) and finally, when he gave up his spirit(Matt 27:50)they thought it was over. But according to prophecy, Jesus said: “For as Jonah was three days and three nights in the belly of the great fish, so will the Son of Man be three days and three nights in the heart of the earth.”Matthew 12:40 NKJV
Jesus rose (Matt 28:5) But that’s not just it. Before Jesus died, He became sin (Rom 8:3) He bore my sins, my weaknesses, my sickness and diseases and every negative thing I could think of and died with them. So that a new generation might come out (isa 53:8) so that the curse will be broken(Gal 3:13), so that I can be healed(Isa 53:5), so that I can have total dominion(Gen 1:26) and so I may be prosperous and victorious again(1 Corin 15:57) Jesus did this for YOU AND ME. You may ask what will make a man hang Himself on the cross for people who don't even know or care about Him?: LOVE “For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life.” John 3:16 NKJV
So when the veil was torn(Matt 27:51), it was not only Aaron who could now enter the Holies of Holies or the priests appointed to atone for us. But now We are welcomed into complete fellowship with God. “Therefore, brethren, having boldness to enter the Holiest by the blood of Jesus,” Hebrews 10:19 NKJV
Now you may ask, Jesus has paid the price this great price, how can I repay Him? “Now to him who works, the wages are not counted as grace but as debt. But to him who does not work but believes on Him who justifies the ungodly, his faith is accounted for righteousness” Romans 4:4-5 NKJV.
The price has been paid not to draw us back into slavery but to make us free (Rom 8:15) All God requires from us is FAITH (Heb11:6). It is our Faith in conjunction with the power of the Holy Spirit to bring us into salvation.
Salvation is a gift, but if you do not believe in the one who gave you, will you be able to live in it? “being justified freely by His grace through the redemption that is in Christ Jesus, whom God set forth as a propitiation by His blood, through faith, to demonstrate His righteousness, because in His forbearance God had passed over the sins that were previously committed, to demonstrate at the present time His righteousness, that He might be just and the justifier of the one who has faith in Jesus.” Romans 3:24-26 NKJV
What Jesus did on the cross was not a righteous obligation, i asked myself this question yesterday, if Jesus did not love me, would the sacrifice still have accounted for something? “But God showed his great love for us by sending Christ to die for us while we were still sinners.” Romans 5:8 NLT
I’m so grateful that Jesus loves me and now I'm made right for His sake, Thank you JESUS for the billion souls you saved by your Blood❤️
Happy Easter Everyone❤️
